Find out more about Irvine Community Church

Founded in January 1932 in Irvine
Irvine Community Church
Irvine Community Church, Irvine's oldest, began on January 17, 1932, when a Sunday School was organized on the Irvine Ranch, sponsored by the American Sunday School Union (now called InFaith). An old schoolhouse on Sand Canyon Avenue was home to the Sunday School. Irvine Community Church grew out of this Sunday School. By November 23, 1945, the church was incorporated and the first part-time pastor came in February 1946. A building was needed to conduct a full church program. After much discussion and prayer, the trustees began in 1948 planning the new building on faith at a time when offerings were $15 per month. James Irvine donated the land and small amounts began to arrive. After much prayer, sacrifice, and hard work, the congregation moved in their new place of worship in October 1951.

Pastor Dennis Sherman faithfully pastored for 47 years at ICC before retiring on May 29, 2016. The associate pastor, Yurie Hwang, stepped into the role of senior pastor and Chris Bogstad was called to be the next associate pastor shortly after. Together the elders of ICC pray to continue the legacy of "Your Bible teaching church" until the Lord returns for His people. The purpose of Irvine Community Church is to make disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ among all peoples by:

Exalting our heavenly Father
Proclaiming the good news of His Son
Teaching His life-changing truth
Caring for the needs of His family

Our worship services feature the proclamation of God’s word through expository teaching, reading of the Scriptures, corporate prayer, and a blend of the old hymns of the church and praise songs. Our church in Irvine CA is on the northeast side of the intersection of the Santa Ana (5) freeway and Sand Canyon, at the corner of Sand Canyon Ave and Marine Way.
