Wednesday All-Church Gathering
Current Series: Proverbs
Every Wednesday night at 7PM The whole church body (including children) is invited to gather together to praise God and study His word as a whole church family. Get over the mid-week slump by spending time with the church body and refresh your spirit alongside fellow believers. The time and format hopefully allows for those of you with families or children to be able to attend, and we hope that those who have not been able to come to a mid-week study at ICC will be able to make it.
While most churches tend to segregate their members by age, we believe that a middle of the week integrated study with all the members of the church better suits the goal of building up the whole body of Christ. Not just as individuals, but that we might all be “knit together in love” (Col. 2:2), and be built up as the body of Christ until we ALL attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God (Eph. 4:12-13, slight paraphrase, emphasis mine). Sunday morning is a wonderful time to gather together and worship through praise and study of God’s Word, but the reality is that it is only 1.5 hours out of the entire week. It can be difficult to sustain and maintain a fervent spirit and love for the body of Christ and His Word throughout the week, and we know mid-week studies can be especially difficult for families and marrieds. So, for the busiest of you who have not been able to come to a mid-week study due to work and family we hope that a short, sweet, accessible-to-all Wednesday gathering might prove “doable” for you.
Not only that, but parents need support in this culture to cherish and raise their children in love for the Lord, we need each other now more than ever. We would love to see our older godly men and women invest in the lives of all youth and kids and to instill a heart for church participation and community worship that will follow them into adulthood. The elders believe that, while it is unique to have a church-wide study and not separate into various groups segregated by age or life stage as other larger churches do, a church-wide gathering for praise and study is the best way that ICC can try to bring all the church together during the mid-week and make the most of the wonderful collection of believers that we are blessed to have here at ICC.
Ultimately, the elders desire that the church might have an opportunity to all sit together as brothers and sisters in Christ, spiritual fathers and mothers to those younger, eager disciples under those who are mature in faith, all in a context that allows for more interaction than Sunday mornings might allow for. The elders are praying that these mid-week gatherings can be a church edifying and unifying event in obedience with Titus 2:1-8.
